The View is finally back, baby! After a month-long summer hiatus, the ladies rejoined the Hot Topics table, where nothing was left to the cutting room floor. From Donald Trump‘s mugshot to the Burning Man fiasco, the co-hosts discussed everything they’ve missed in their absence — including the first Republican debate, which left the women roasting a “harsh” Joy Behar.
Toward the latter half of the opening segment, Sunny Hostin opened up about her “newfound respect” for Republican hopeful Asa Hutchinson, whom she referred to as “lovely.” According to her, he was the “only one” who “clearly said he would not support a convicted felon as Donald Trump” — something Ana Navarro agreed with.
“I think it’s really important to have those voices of Asa Hutchinson, of Will Hurd — who wasn’t in the first debate — of even Chris Christie, even though he seemed to be doing pilates with his wrists,” Navarro joked.
While the ladies poked fun at Christie for “playing games,” Behar admitted that she likes his point of view — despite their past beef that stemmed from a joke the co-host made about his weight.

“I like what he’s saying though. He’s speaking out against Trump. It’s good. I always had a problem with him. I did a roast and he got mad at me one time,” she said, before reluctantly explaining, “He wanted to run for president. I said, ‘Listen, let me say something to you in terms you understand: you’re toast.'”
Behar added, “That’s not that bad. That’s a roast joke — you make fun of people about their looks and their weight.”
Sara Haines thought the comedian was “going light” on Christie, while Hostin revealed that she says “more harsh things” during the Hot Topics meetings, leaving Behar seemingly at a loss for words.
“Please, she says more harsh things to me as a hello,” Navarro quipped, to which Behar fired back, “What is this, a gang bang all of the sudden here?”
Ladies, it’s good to have you back!
The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
