Joy Behar called out Alyssa Farah Griffin on this morning’s episode of The View during an emotional conversation about the migrant population in New York City.

After Mayor Eric Adams warned that the influx of migrants will “destroy” New York City, Behar accused the politician of being “dramatic,” while Ana Navarro agreed, “He’s got a flair for drama.”

Sunny Hostin took it a step further when she proclaimed she was “disappointed” in the mayor, reminding viewers that immigrants are coming to America “for a better life.”

Behar then tapped Griffin for her opinion on the issue, asking the conservative commentator and former Trump White House employee about why she thinks Republicans are asking for help with migrants from the federal government.

“I think that New York is finally getting a small taste of what border states have dealt with for decades,” Griffin began. “And this is a Biden problem right now because he’s the president. This was an issue under Trump. It’s been an issue for 25-plus years. We’ve not had major immigration reform in this country in decades.”

After sharing her own family’s experience coming through Ellis Island from Lebanon, Griffin said she thinks “immigration makes this country stronger,” but added, “we need legal immigration, we need a system that actually works.”

She continued, “We do need to secure the border, and by the way, I disagree that is ‘building the wall,'” bashing her former boss’s much-mocked idea. “The cartels will go under it, they’ll go over it. Also, we’re not a country of walls.

“But we do need to secure it. There needs to be a process. Fentanyl comes across the border that’s killing tens of millions of Americans,” she said. As she began to speak again, Behar cut her off.

“That’s different, though, ” Behar told Griffin. “Don’t— I don’t think you should put those together,” but Griffin pushed back, replying, “I think so, because I think we have a porous border where you can get in through many parts, thousands of miles of unsecured border.”

Behar wasn’t swayed, telling Griffin her argument “sort of demonizes migrants who are coming here for a better life.”

In response, Griffin told her, “The vast majority of fentanyl in this country comes from the southern border. It’s not coming from migrants or asylees. It’s coming from drug cartels who exploit our broken system to get fentanyl into the country.”

Surprisingly, Hostin chimed in to support Griffin, whom she typically clashes with during political debates. She spoke up to defend her point, telling Behar fentanyl isn’t “coming from migrant workers looking for jobs.”

Who would have though Hostin and Griffin would team up against Behar, and during a conversation about immigration — one of the most contentious political topics of today? Well, stranger things have certainly happened on The View.

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC. Watch this morning’s conversation in the video above.
