CINCINNATI — Jose Trevino could read the tea leaves well enough to know that he was probably getting traded last offseason. 

But before the Yankees dealt him to the Reds for Fernando Cruz in December, they helped change the trajectory of his career.

Trevino became an All-Star and Platinum Glove winner, played for the team he grew up rooting for and emerged as one of the leading faces of the Yankees catching program that has turned into something of a factory in churning out big leaguers

“It’s cool, man,” Trevino said Monday, getting choked up as he spoke at his locker inside the home clubhouse at Great American Ballpark with the Yankees in town. “It’s a lot of hard work.
