Papa Poole has entered the chat.
After Warriors star Draymond Green rehashed his October 2022 altercation with former teammate Jordan Poole during a recent episode of “The Pat Beverley Podcast with Rone,” Poole’s father, Anthony, fired back on Twitter.
“I don’t just hit people,” Green said in clip released on social media. “I’ve been in this league 11 years, I ain’t just hit nobody… Dialogue happens over the course of time…
“You’re usually not triggered by something that fast to that degree. … We know things you have to stand on. As I admitted before I was wrong in the way I handled it for the situation and where we were.
“By the way. I wish him well. I was showing him the ropes in this league. I think he’s got a bright future, super talented, super skilled… I don’t have any hard feelings towards anything. I wish him well on his journey.”
Anthony claimed that Green avoided him and his wife throughout the 2022-23 NBA season in a response on Twitter.
“I’m stand on this that’s is some bs,” Anthony wrote. “Jp was his guy and he avoid me all last yr. He is a soft as bitch and I’m standing on this and he didn’t apologize to me and my wife. So he lame and me and him can meet anytime he want.”
Shortly thereafter, Green hit back and disagreed.
“That’s so cute…,” Green wrote. “It’s impossible to avoid you an arena for a year champ. I got get my family from that family room every game.
“And stop using those words, they usually don’t go over well amongst men.”
The unexpected war of words comes weeks after Poole was traded to the Wizards.
The point guard — who won a championship with the Green and the Warriors in 2022 — seemingly responded to the drama in a post on his Instagram Story.
Poole posted a video of himself practicing at the gym with the lyrics, “Talk of the topic… Find you a hobby,” from Gunna’s song, “Bottom.”
He also added a crying-laughing emoji.
Video footage of the Green-Poole altercation during a Warriors practice was leaked and published by TMZ last fall.
Golden State was reportedly forced to pause the practice when Green and Poole came chest-to-chest and began shoving each other during a heated altercation, which ended with Green punching Poole and nearby teammates and coaches separating the two.
Former Warriors veteran Andre Iguodala, who was on the team at the time, defended Green and Poole and called the situation “family business.”
Green was apologetic after the altercation with Poole, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, who reported at the time the two have a history.
Furthermore, there was apparently buildup stemming from teammates noticing a change in Poole’s behavior throughout training camp, as the guard was on the verge of securing a lucrative extension at the time.
“What we not gone do is talk crazy about my young fella JP… great character kid… miss me with all that other bs… straight from the ‘SOURCE,’” Iguodala tweeted at the time.
The Warriors and Poole agreed to a four-year contract extension worth up to $140 million last October after he was a key piece in the Warriors’ 2022 championship run.
Golden State swapped Poole for veteran point guard Chris Paul in a deal with the Wizards earlier this month, after Paul was traded to Washington from the Suns in exchange for guard Bradley Beal.
