It’s abundantly clear how frustrated Blue Jays manager John Schneider is after the latest Toronto loss.
The Blue Jays have lost six of their last seven games after a 7-1 defeat to the Red Sox at Rogers Centre on Wednesday, while the Yankees won their fourth straight to tie Toronto in the race for the American League East.
Schneider spoke candidly about how he felt about his reeling team, which already clinched at least a wild-card spot.
“It feels like the sky is falling right now and it’s f–king not,” Schneider said, according to MLB.com. “We’ve got 90 wins, we’re in the playoffs and if the season ended today we’re winning the AL East. I want them to come in and not press. I want them to play confident.”
Both the Blue Jays and Yankees have just four games left on the calendar before the postseason begins. Both teams are in, but they are jockeying to take control of the division. The Blue Jays haven’t done much to help themselves.
First baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was ejected from the game on Wednesday after he had words with umpire Gabe Morales. It came a day after George Springer was beside himself over two controversial calls.
Trying to get ahead of any intent to blame some of the misfortunes on the umpires, Schneider shot that down during his chat with the media.
“First and foremost, we’re not losing because of umpires,” he said. “Let’s just get that out there. We’re losing because we’re not scoring enough runs.” “I don’t want to feed into the narrative that the umpires are screwing us, because they’re not.”

Part of the problem has been Toronto’s inability to generate runs.
On Wednesday, the Blue Jays put up just one run against the Red Sox for the second consecutive game. It marked the sixth time over a seven-game stretch that they’ve failed to score more than a run in a loss.
It’s safe to say that the sky might be falling for the Blue Jays, but things are not getting any easier in the stretch run of the season.
