John Oliver is not letting up on his beef with Elon Musk.
Just weeks after Oliver compared the tech entrepreneur to Lex Luthor, Musk recently criticized Oliver in a tweet, saying he’s become “weak sauce” after otherwise being a “capable comedian.”
“The reason he is not very funny these days is because he is too keen to pander to wokeness, which is fundamentally a lie, whereas great humor requires revealed truth,” Musk wrote.
Oliver hit back in an interview with TMZ, saying, “I cannot possibly pretend to guess what’s in that man’s mind at any time.”
He continued, “He seems wounded … He’s definitely sensitive, that is a biological fact.”
Regarding Musk’s statement accusing him of pandering “to wokeness,” Oliver replied, “I don’t know what that means. I don’t think he could explain what that means, and I think it means nothing. I don’t know literally what he’s talking about.”
Musk’s criticisms come after the comedian railed against him in an incendiary monologue on Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.
In a December episode, Oliver joked that Musk could “pull off pretty much any bad guy in a movie,” and listed multiple cinematic scenarios that Musk could star in.

“There’s Lex Luthor posing for the cover of Metropolis Maniacs monthly. There’s ‘Why No Mr. Bond, I and my child bride expect you to die.” There’s, ‘I just bought your media company, I’m about to strip you for parts,'” Oliver said at the time. “There’s, ‘space’s first racist sheriff.’ And finally, the less fuckable reimagining of Billy Zane’s character in Titanic. Truly, the man has range.”
The comedian also declared that Musk should be held accountable for his problematic actions.
“The least surprising thing on earth is a middle-aged billionaire CEO with self-serving libertarian views, increasingly racist politics and a messiah complex, and it is long past time that he face the accountability that should come with that,” Oliver said.
Last Week Tonight with John Oliver airs Sundays at 11/10c on HBO.
