The Ravens created a party-like atmosphere in the locker room in celebration of earning a spot in the AFC Championship game on Saturday, and it was led by none other than head coach John Harbaugh’s dancing.
After defeating the Texans 34-10 in the divisional round, the team huddled around one another in the locker room, making a dance circle that was started by tight ends coach George Godsey jumping in.
Harbaugh followed, boogying along with the cheers from his players and fellow coaches.
“It was everybody,” Harbaugh said smiling after the game about the locker room dance party. “I mean, George Godsey started it off … George got us started and then we all got in there and danced, so I just want you to know that it wasn’t just me, just for the record.”
The celebration was warranted after the Ravens pulled off a stellar second-half stretch to get the victory after the game was tied 10-10 at halftime.
In the final two quarters, Baltimore kept Houston’s offense silent, outscoring them 24-0.
“The locker room was good,” Harbaugh said of what the energy was at the half. “I think everyone was just kind of a little edgy. We were all a little edgy. … Everyone just kind of took a deep breath and said ‘Alright, it’s 0-0. Gave up a big punt return and it’s our game to go win.'”
The victory means the Ravens will host the AFC Championship game for the first time in team history; it’s the first AFC Championship game for the city of Baltimore since the Colts defeated the Raiders in 1971 en route to winning Super Bowl V.
The Ravens will host the winner of Sunday’s Bills-Chiefs divisional round matchup, which marks Patrick Mahomes’ first road playoff game, excluding Super Bowls.
The Bills hope to earn revenge after falling to the Chiefs in the postseason two times in the last three years.
