With the news of Anthony Volpe’s shoulder surgery, Joel Sherman hopped in front of the camera to give us his 3 Things I Think video surrounding the Yankees shortstop.

First off, depending on how long it takes him to get back on the field, the Yankees will be forced to take a closer look at Jose Caballero, Oswaldo Cabrera or some combination of both as main men at the position, especially since some would question if a healthy Anthony Volpe is the best option at the position regardless.

Second, outside of the organization, Joel points out that there isn’t necessarily a shortstop store on 33rd Street in Manhattan for the Yankees to pick a new toy from. So who would be options on the free agent market if needed?

Third, will the Yankees lose patience in Volpe or will they remind themselves that he’s as old as Aaron Judge was when he broke in with the Yankees in 2016 — just 24 years old? He’s a young player with a chance to get better. But will it be in NY?
