President Biden has finally achieved the ultimate border absurdity: forcing American citizens to think about illegally re-entering their own country.

Yes, you read that right. 

How could this have happened? 

Simple: Our “border enforcement” agencies shut down the Lukeville, Ariz. crossing in early December.

Agents working there were diverted to try to stem the vast tide of illegals Biden & Co. have summoned, meaning anyone wanting to make a legal crossing from the Mexico side has to take a massive detour east or west. 

Turning what was once a 30-minute journey into an hours-long trek crossing territory controlled by the same cartels who traffic illegal migrants and cut holes in our border fences, along badly kept-up desert roads. 

That’s left Americans trying to get back into the country from Mexico — again, these are American citizens — to ponder sneaking across into their own country. 

Their other choice? Risking life and limb to obey the law. 

It’s the perfect metaphor for the Biden approach: Reward the criminals, punish the law-abiding.  

This is when Biden’s insane policies have invited in record millions while pushing towns on the border itself to the brink of destruction and placing deadly fiscal strain on cities as far away as New York.

And the surge has no end: Illegal crossings hit a single-day record of 12,000 the day after the Lukeville shutdown; October saw 240,988 encounters, per CBP data, following September’s Biden-era high of 269,000.

Those eye-watering figures don’t count huge numbers of “gotaways,” migrants spotted but not stopped — or, of course, those not spotted at all (a service the cartels surely charge extra for). 

And now the prez has completely inverted how borders are supposed to work, i.e. allow easy ingress for citizens while keeping non-citizen entry under strict control. 

It’s hard to see how Biden could manage to make things worse from here. 

But trust us: He will.
