Jimmy Kimmel took aim at President Trump on Live for pardoning former Chrisley Knows Best stars Todd and Julie Chrisley.
“They are reality TV stars just like him, he doesn’t forget his roots,” Kimmel joked.
Todd and Julie were convicted in 2022 for bank fraud and tax evasion. They were accused of defrauding community banks in Atlanta for years before becoming reality television stars and, later, defrauding the IRS, per NBC News.
“That happens to be an issue that is very dear to President Trump,” Kimmel joked. “He has a very soft spot in his heart for fraud.”
The late night host went on to roast the Chrisleys, saying he remembers seeing a commercial for their USA Network series when it was still airing. “I thought it was a joke. I thought they were actors in a parody of a reality show about a woman who married her own ventriloquist dummy,” he said. “This is not a mom and her gay real estate broker son, this is a real married couple.”
But Trump could not resist helping “some fellow criminals in need,” Kimmel added.
Kimmel then pointed out that their daughter, Savannah Chrisley, spoke out in support of Trump at the Republican National Convention in 2024 when he was running for president.
During her appearance, Savannah claimed her parents were targeted by “rogue prosecutors in Fulton County” for their “public profile and conservative beliefs.”
“He called us ‘the Trumps of the South,'” she said. “He meant it as an insult. But let me tell ya, boy, I wear it as a badge of honor.”
Kimmel claimed on Live, “The real reason Trump pardoned the Chrisleys is A., because their daughter is good looking and B., she spoke in support of him last year at the RNC. Turns out that was a savvy move.”
Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs on weeknights at 11:35/10:35c on ABC.
