Jimmy Kimmel made it clear during his opening monologue on Live Thursday that they scrapped their entire plan for the show after Elon Musk went “nuclear” on President Donald Trump earlier that day.

The late night host could not contain his glee as he recapped their spat, which seemed to come out of nowhere.

“Just a few days ago, Elon was in the Oval Office, Trump gave him the key to the White House, he was saying all these nice things,” Kimmel recounted. He added that Musk even shared a post on X just a few months ago saying, “I love Donald Trump as much as a straight man can love another man.”

“They couldn’t quit each other it was like Woke-back Mountain with these two,” Kimmel joked. “And now it’s all gone and battle lines are being drawn.”

Kimmel especially enjoyed seeing Musk claim President Trump is mentioned in the Jeffrey Epstein files.

“I feel bad for Donald Trump. First he lost Jeffrey Epstein, now Elon. He’s running out of friends,” he quipped.

But he clearly didn’t feel that bad. “This is so hard for everyone – except me, of course,” Kimmel said. “This is great for me.”

Amidst all of this, the one person trying to get the gang back together is, surprisingly enough, Kanye West.

“Broooos please noooooo,” West posted on X as Trump and Musk continued taking shots at each other. “We love you both so much.”

Kimmel joked that West “took a break from designing his summer line of swastikas” to weigh in on the feud.

“That’s when you know things are nuts when the man trying to bring everyone together is Kanye West,” he said.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs on weeknights at 11:35/10:35c on ABC.
