Donald Trump recently took a break from posting about his legal troubles to honor veterans on the 80th anniversary of D-Day. But Jimmy Kimmel wasn’t buying it.

On Jimmy Kimmel Live, the late night host shared the rather “respectful” message Trump shared in honor of the troops.

Trump wrote on Truth Social, “Today, we honor the immortal heroes who landed at Normandy 80 years ago. The men of D-Day will live forever in history as among the bravest, noblest, and greatest Americans ever to walk the earth. They shed their blood, and thousands gave their lives, in defense of American Freedom. They are in our hearts today and for all time.”

Though Kimmel offered him some credit for the kind message, he pointed out that just 12 hours before, Trump was a bit more worried about his own legal situation, namely the fact that he was recently found guilty on 34 counts of business fraud.

“I agree with and would even be somewhat moved by [this] had he not 12 hours earlier posted, ‘What I’ve gone through, no one has ever gone through…I have been under siege,’” Kimmel said, quoting another one of Trump’s recent Truth Social posts.

He also pointed out that Trump was scheduled to be in Beverly Hills that evening for a donor event “with a collections basket.”

Kimmel later took aim at the supposed candidates Trump is considering for his running mate in the election. After pointing out that most of the names have previously shut down the possibility of even working with Trump, Kimmel didn’t mince any words when he condemned their sudden change in perspective.

“How are they not ashamed of themselves? At least Tim Scott has been slurping his ass since the first day. The rest of them are such spineless, impotent, boot-licking slugs,” he said.

Despite his recent conviction, Trump will still be able to run for president and hold office if elected. However, there is a chance that he will not be allowed to vote in the election because he is now a convicted felon.

On the other hand, the former U.S. president is also no longer allowed to carry a concealed weapon, but he can control the country’s nuclear weapons if reelected.

“It’s pretty crazy, a guy who’s not allowed to carry a concealed weapon, would be allowed to carry a nuclear weapon,” Kimmel joked. “This is like your parents saying, ‘You know what, you can’t have a puppy, but if you get good grades, we’ll buy you a werewolf.’”

He added, “Now, if he wants to shoot someone on Fifth Avenue, he’s going to have to do it with a crossbow.”
