Jimmy Kimmel weighed in on the latest New York City criminal making headlines: Luigi Mangione, the 26-year-old suspected of murdering UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson last week.

“No matter how you feel about this, and people do have different feelings about this,” Kimmel said on Live Monday (Dec. 10) night. “I think we can all agree that no one could have imagined the suspect would have a name as funny as Luigi Mangione.”

Kimmel pointed out that while we’ve already learned so much about the suspect from his social media, we’ll likely be talking about him for a long time as his trial goes underway, which may take some of the heat off of someone like Sean “Diddy” Combs, who has been under public scrutiny for a while now.

“We’re gonna be hearing a lot about this suspect over the coming months,” Kimmel said. “Diddy is like, ‘Thank god, someone else please.'”

Diddy has been dominating the headlines since he was arrested in September on racketeering and sex trafficking charges.

This came almost a year after his ex-partner Cassie Ventura accused him of abusing and sexually assaulting her in a bombshell lawsuit that inspired several other accusers to come forward. In another lawsuit filed just this week, rapper Jay-Z was also accused of raping a teenager with Diddy.

But Mangione is certainly giving the public a lot to talk about.

Kimmel explained that Mangione was arrested “after looking suspicious in a McDonalds.”

“Doesn’t everyone look suspicious in a McDonalds? Just eating there is suspicious,” Kimmel joked.

He also pointed out that many of Mangione’s social media accounts have already been uncovered online, including his GoodReads account where he reviewed the Unabomber’s manifesto and Steve-O’s autobiography.

Mangione rated Steve-O’s autobiography three out of five stars, which Kimmel joked may have been his breaking point.

“Maybe if Steve-O had written a better book, [Mangione] would have just hit the guy in the nuts with a T-ball bat instead,” he said.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs on weeknights at 11:35/10:35c on ABC.
