President-elect Donald Trump is preparing for his inauguration by throwing a “tantrum,” as Jimmy Kimmel put it, over the recent death of President Jimmy Carter.
Kimmel blasted the president-to-be on a recent episode of Live where he called Trump out for demanding the flags at the U.S. Capitol fly full-staff during his inauguration instead of half-staff, as is traditionally done for 30 days after a U.S. president dies.
“Trump threw such a tantrum about it, Speaker Mike Johnson ordered all U.S. flags in the Capitol to fly at full-staff on inauguration day for Donald Trump,” Kimmel explained. “Which might be the most Donald Trump-y thing Donald Trump has ever done, to be mad that a guy who just died is getting all the attention.” President Carter passed away Dec. 29 at the age of 99.
“The other reason they raised the flag is they’re worried if they’re too low, he may molest them again,” Kimmel added, sharing a slew of photos of Trump closely embracing flags on multiple occasions.
The late night host also threw a jab at Trump’s son, Eric Trump. “But rest assured, wherever the flag pole winds up Eric will have his tongue stuck to it,” he added.
During his opening monologue, Kimmel later called Trump out for the countless ventures he’s recently proposed ahead of his term.
“Yesterday, Uncle Scam announced his plan to create a new government agency to collect all those beautiful tariffs he wants to propose,” Kimmel said. “He calls it the External Revenue Service.” With a laugh, he added, “From the people who brought you the Space Force, the External Revenue Service.”
The late night host explained that the ERS will reportedly “make sure other countries will pay their fair share.”
“Who knows more about paying their fair share than the the billionaire who paid $750 in taxes in 2016 and again in 2017?” Kimmel fired back.
Trump is set to take office Monday, Jan. 20, which means we will have four more years of Kimmel criticizing the sitting president.
Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs on weeknights at 11:35/10:35c on ABC.
