Jimmy Fallon wasted no time ragging on Donald Trump after a bit on his late night show didn’t unfold the way the host had hoped — much like the former president’s plans for the 2020 election.
On Tuesday night’s (Oct. 17) episode of The Tonight Show, Fallon introduced a game of “WePost.” During the segment, he displayed five random tweets, while the audience voted on which one he should post to his social media page.
One post read, “SUV commercials really overestimate how often we need to drive up mountains,” while another said, “Nothing like the adrenaline rush you get from almost dropping a ceramic bowl.”
After those posts earned the lowest scores, Fallon was convinced that one particular tweet about electric scales would undoubtedly be the winner.
“Whenever I step on an electric scale, it feels like there’s a half-second where it’s figuring out how honest to be,” the screen said, before revealing 171 likes and 34 dislikes from the audience.
Meanwhile, Tariq Trotter — the lead singer of The Roots — expressed his doubts. According to the musician, whichever tweet came up next was going to win.
“Paper straws make finishing your drink a race against time,” the next post said, to which Fallon declared, “There’s no way that’s better than the scale one. The scale one was great.”
Much to Fallon’s dismay, the paper straws post scored much higher with the audience than the post he predicted would win, prompting him to ask for a recount. Sound familiar? Well, Fallon immediately noticed the similarities between his suggestion and Trump infamously denying the 2020 election after losing to Joe Biden.
“I think it’s rigged, it’s all rigged,” Fallon quipped, nailing his Trump impression. “Just need a couple more votes to make it real.”
In the end, Trotter’s prediction was right — and even beat out a dig at shorter men by one point. Better luck next time, Jimmy!
