Jim Harbaugh may not be introduced as the Chargers’ new head coach until later this week, but he was already getting his message out to fans for next season.
In a stylized video that blended video of Harbaugh’s days as a player with the Chargers with more recent clips of action from the current team, the sought-after head coach said that Los Angeles “is where I want to be, nowhere else.”
The dramatic video was released across the Chargers’ social media platforms on Monday, days after the franchise made the potentially future-altering coaching hire.
“I know the universe is big, the football universe is big, but it’s really not that big,” Harbaugh starts off saying as the dramatic music builds in the background and fans got a first look at him in Chargers’ powder blue.
“Every job I’ve taken every step of the way in coaching there’s a connection there for me. Coming back to the Chargers, the sincerity, it was there. It just felt like home when I came here.”
Harbaugh played two seasons with the Chargers when the franchise was still in San Diego in 1999 and 2000.
He played a combined 21 games for the organization while throwing for 4,177 yards and 18 touchdowns.
He returns to the Chargers as their head coach hoping to right the ship after winning a national title while at Michigan this past season.
Harbaugh set the expectations for what this Chargers team will operate like during the one-minute and seven-second video.
“It’s gonna be a team, think of a family,” he said. “There’s gonna be ignitors. There’s gonna be leaders by example. That’s mostly what I do. We’re gonna attack ‘em with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind. And this is where I want to be, nowhere else.”
The hype video culminates as the music reaches a climactic peak with a clip of Harbaugh inside the Michigan locker room screaming, “Who’s got it better than us?”
It then cuts to a shot of Harbaugh in his new powder blue Chargers gear looking into the camera and replying, “Nobody.”

Harbaugh’s expectations are quite clear and he made them known a day before during an interview on CBS when he said “there’s no Lombardi in college football” and he wanted a “crack at that.”
The new Chargers coach also revealed that he had already talked with quarterback Justin Herbert, wide receiver Keenan Allen and safety Derwin James Jr.
Harbaugh’s official introductory press conference is set for Thursday.
