The Jets are taking a flier on a former special teams star and a pass-catching threat.
Running back Tarik Cohen, who missed the last three seasons due to injuries, is signing with the Jets on a one-year contract, according to ESPN.
Cohen, 28, last played in 2020 for the Bears when he logged three games.
The 5-foot-6 veteran established himself as a special teams weapon and receiving back during his time with the Bears, earning First Team All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors in 2018 as a return specialist.
However, his career took a turn in 2020 when he tore his ACL. He then missed the entire 2021 season.
Cohen attempted to return in 2022 only to suffer a ruptured Achilles tendon that knocked him out for the 2022 season.
He signed with the Panthers’ practice squad last September, but a hamstring injury set him back and he never played a snap for Carolina.
Cohen tallied 209 catches for 1,575 yards and nine touchdowns in his four years with the Bears, including a career-best 725 yards and five touchdowns in 2018.
As a returner, he averaged 10.3 yards per punt return and and 20.9 yards per kick return, and scored his lone return touchdown on a punt in 2017.
