The Jets released second-year defensive tackle Leonard Taylor III on Tuesday.

Taylor hadn’t played since Week 3 and was a healthy scratch in the past three games.

He made the team as an undrafted free agent last season, but he slipped down the depth chart under the new coaching regime.

The Jets also signed receiver Trenton Irwin to the practice squad and released running back Avery Williams.

Taylor (6-foot-3, 305 pounds) signed with the Jets as an undrafted free agent out of Miami in May 2024 and made the initial 53-man roster as a rookie last season.

He appeared in 14 games in 2024, recording 24 total tackles, four tackles for loss, four quarterback hits and 1.5 sacks.

He appeared in two games for the Jets this season, recording three total tackles, 1 TFL and 1 pass defense.

Irwin (6-2, 204) originally signed with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Stanford in 2019.

After being released by the team in August of that year, he was signed to the Bengals practice squad in October.
