As the Jets prepare to begin training camp, they are getting rid of one of their former top draft picks.
The Jets were finalizing a trade on Wednesday night to send fourth-year wide receiver Denzel Mims to the Lions, according to sources.
NFL Network reported the deal would be a pick swap in 2025.
Detroit will send a conditional sixth-round pick in exchange for a seventh-rounder.
The Jets informed Mims earlier that they were going to release him if they could not find a trade partner.
The Jets excused him from reporting for camp on Wednesday with the rest of the team.
Mims, a 2020 second-round pick, was drafted by the previous coaching staff and could never win the trust of Robert Saleh or his staff.
Mims finishes his time with the Jets having played in 30 games with 42 receptions for 676 yards and no touchdowns.

The Jets and Mims have been heading for a divorce for two years and it finally happened as the Jets prepare to open training camp.
Jets players reported on Wednesday with their first practice coming Thursday.
