Aaron Rodgers’ 2023 season is officially over.
Jets coach Robert Saleh said Wednesday that Rodgers will not play again this season after the quarterback alluded to that being the case Tuesday on “The Pat McAfee Show” without explicitly saying he won’t be coming back down the stretch from a torn Achilles.
Still, the Jets activated Rodgers, 40, off of injured reserve Wednesday.
“We’ve got the roster flexibility with all the different things that have happened over the course of the last couple of weeks. It’s all part of his rehab, and just having him out on the football field is a plus for everybody,” Saleh said. “It’s a plus for him, it’s a plus for his teammates. So we’re gonna keep him on the [53-man roster.]”
Meanwhile, it’s unclear who will start at quarterback for the Jets on Sunday against the Commanders as Zach Wilson remains in concussion protocol after getting injured against the Dolphins and will not practice on Wednesday.
