Jets running back Michael Carter needed to be pulled away from his position coach Taylor Embree on the sideline Sunday during the second half of the Jets’ game against the Patriots.
Carter, who is third on the depth chart behind Breece Hall and Dalvin Cook, was seen yelling in the face of Embree, who walked away.
Carter tried to follow Embree but teammates Xavier Gipson and Justin Hardee stepped in, as seen during the CBS television broadcast.
Shortly before Carter was heated with Embree, the third-down back was bowled over by blitzing Patriots’ safety Kyle Dugger, so that play could have been at the root of the dispute.
Earlier in the second half, receiver Garrett Wilson was animated on the sideline during a conversation with offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett and quarterback Zach Wilson.
Garrett pointed to the screen on the iPad that Hackett was holding, as if to ask why they weren’t seeing what he was.
It’s clear that frustrations are boiling over the Jets offense, which was expected to be one of the most explosive in the NFL with quarterback Aaron Rodgers at the controls and has been reduced to a carbon copy of last year’s ineptitude with Zach Wilson filling in for the injured Rodgers.
Carter had one catch for three years and no carries at the time of the sideline incident.
