The NFL’s new league year officially began at 4 p.m., and thus, the Jets’ Aaron Rodgers era officially came to a close.
The Jets are officially releasing the 41-year-old quarterback Wednesday after two seasons, with the new regime of head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey opting to move in a different direction.
The Jets are eating a $49 million dead cap hit.
Rodgers seems poised to play a 21st NFL season in 2025, with the Giants and Steelers pursuing him in NFL free agency.
The Jets announced last month they were moving on from Rodgers.
