NextImg:Jets’ Duane Brown won’t have heavy workload rest of season: ‘not as healthy as I’d like to be’

Duane Brown seems resigned to the fact that he may not have a heavy workload for the remainder of the season with the Jets.

The former Pro Bowl offensive tackle has totaled just seven snaps in two appearances since returning from a hip injury that sidelined him for eight games earlier this season.

“I’m still not as healthy as I’d like to be, so they’re trying to limit the amount of reps I’m getting and limit the wear and tear,” Brown told The Post after practice Thursday. “They’re trying to utilize me in different ways, and we’ll see what happens.

“It’s whatever the team needs, man. Until I get everything fixed completely, they’re trying to limit the amount of reps to not have a full workload. But obviously if it comes to it, I’ll be out there.”

The 38-year-old Brown mostly was used last week against the Falcons as an extra offensive lineman in jumbo packages.

He played through a painful shoulder injury last season before undergoing surgery in the offseason and added that he’ll need another procedure when this season is over.

“I wanted to contribute, and I’ve been able to do that a little bit. Hopefully I’ll be able to do that more and more,” Brown said. “It’s always hard to miss time, especially when the team is struggling. It’s been a tough year for us injury-wise, and the lack of production on [the offensive] side of the ball. We’re just trying to continue to fight. Obviously, I’ll do whatever is needed.”

After not participating in Wednesday’s practice, Aaron Rodgers was back on the field in his No. 8 red jersey. He moved around some and made several short throws during the portion open to the media.

Breece Hall (ankle) Jason Brownlee (ankle) and John Franklin-Myers (ankle) worked on the side, but Hall said he expects to play Sunday against the Texans.

Rodgers, Tyler Conklin (hamstring) and Quincy Williams (knee) were listed as limited.

Offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett on the waiving of veteran quarterback Tim Boyle after Zach Wilson was reinstalled as the starter: “This is the best profession in the world, but it’s not the best business, and, unfortunately, it’s part of the business, and it happened. Obviously, everyone knows how I feel about Tim. I love him. I wish him the best, and that’s just part of how things work. It’s unfortunate, but we have to move on. We’ve got to score some points.”
