NextImg:Jets’ Duane Brown to be activated off PUP list in major offensive line boost

The Jets are a step closer to getting one of Aaron Rodgers’ main protectors back.

Left tackle Duane Brown will be activated off the physically unable to perform list on Wednesday, The Post’s Brian Costello confirmed.

SNY was the first to break the news.

The 37-year-old Brown passed a doctor’s examination Tuesday afternoon in Houston without any concerns.

He will have to pass a physical in Florham Park before officially being taken off the PUP list, according to SNY.

The offensive line has been one of the Jets’ biggest question marks.

Brown, who is questionable to play Saturday night against the Giants in the final preseason game, will have about three weeks to get into game shape before the Jets open the regular season against the Bills on Sept. 11 at MetLife Stadium.

Running back Breece Hall won’t play against the Giants as he works his way back from the torn left ACL he suffered last October.

But the speedy, second-year running back continues to remind quarterback Aaron Rodgers of a former teammate with the Packers.

“The difference that we’ve seen when Breece is on the field is substantial. Just a different speed,” Rodgers said after practice Tuesday. “We had a guy in Green Bay, who had a similar running style, who was super efficient, Ahman Green. When he was running, nobody ever really caught him, and he didn’t even look like he was going that fast.

“Watching Breece, he might not look like he’s going that fast, but nobody catches him. He has elite speed and he also has a big old hind end. He’s put together pretty well for a running back, so I love having him out there.”

Green ran for more than 1,000 yards in six of seven seasons with the Packers from 2000-06, including a career-best 1,883 yards with 15 touchdowns in 2003.

The 22-year-old Hall was activated last week from the physically unable to perform list after surgery for the season-ending injury.

Veteran running back, Dalvin Cook returned to camp, following the birth of his child over the weekend, but he also will not play Saturday.

Right guard Alijah Vera-Tucker (ankle) and left guard Laken Tomlinson (leg) returned to practice and are expected to play this week, head coach Robert Saleh said.

Defensive end, Carl Lawson (back) and wide receiver Corey Davis (personal reasons) did not practice. Rookie offensive lineman Joe Tippmann is dealing with a knee injury but should be available for Week 1, according to Saleh. Running back Israel Abanikanda will miss multiple weeks with a bruised thigh.
