Watching the Yule Log might be more entertaining than tuning in to Jets-Commanders on Christmas Eve.
There probably will be more excitement watching the log burn.
The Commanders have the worst defense in the NFL.
The Jets have the worst offense in the NFL.
It is the moveable force vs. the stoppable object.
This game has no meaning other than for draft position.
The 5-9 Jets saw their playoff hopes officially extinguished last week in Miami, their sixth loss in seven games.
The 4-10 Commanders have lost five in a row and face major changes this offseason.
All these teams can do now is play out the string and look ahead to 2024.
Jets coach Robert Saleh did that this week after it became official that Aaron Rodgers would not play again this season.
Saleh asked fans to remember the promise they felt coming into this season before Rodgers ruptured his left Achilles tendon four plays into the first game.
“The excitement in August of 2023 was real,” Saleh said. “The excitement of everybody coming out of the tunnel on Sept. 11 was real, and it’s unfortunate the way the season panned out, but with that excitement, we’ll have that excitement again, and the expectation for me, and I’ll speak for everyone around here, is that we win, and I do believe we will.”
It will be interesting to watch how hard these two teams fight with no postseason hopes to play for.

The Jets will be starting their fourth different quarterback of the season, Trevor Siemian.
It is the second time in franchise history they have had four starting quarterbacks in a season, joining 1989.
They have been abysmal on offense.
They managed just 103 total yards in their 30-0 loss to the Dolphins last Sunday.
They are the worst third-down team in football.
They are the worst red-zone team in football.
They have scored just 13 touchdowns on offense in 14 games this season, with just one coming in the first quarter.
The Jets have just nine passing touchdowns — 10 less than Commanders starter Sam Howell, who has 19.
The Commanders defense has been every bit as bad as the Jets offense.
They gave up 445 yards in their 28-20 loss to the Rams last week.
They have given up at least 400 yards in seven games, including each of the past three.
Time to look up the Yule Log channel.
