Breece Hall and Tiki Barber hashed out their little brouhaha.
Barber was on color commentary for CBS’ coverage of the Jets-Broncos game last Sunday, and when Hall broke away for a 72-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter, Barber remarked that Hall was “deceptively fast” but not a guy who could run a 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds.
Two days later, Hall responded, tweeting, “Somebody tell Tiki I ran a 4.39 btw [by the way].”
The Jets running back joined WFAN’s afternoon drive program “Evan & Tiki” to talk about the situation with Barber.
Barber opened the interview, laughing about how someone’s 40-yard dash time “doesn’t matter” for NFL success.
“It still translates on the field a little bit,” Hall responded.
“I do think your 40 should have the most to do with what your overall speed is on Madden and stuff like that. I think that should be the metric they use.”
Barber said that his kids “always clown” him because his speed ranking in Madden was slow on account of running a 4.56 40-yard dash, even though he was able to score long touchdowns in his Giants career.
Barber told Hall he was sorry if he offended the Jets running back by calling him not fast, and Hall said that he wasn’t offended at all.
“I just wanted to give you some crap about it,” Hall laughed.
Hall carried the ball 22 times for 177 yards in the Jets’ 31-21 win in Denver, the first game in which he didn’t have a snap count following his return from last season’s torn ACL.
And after the game, Hall was defiant about recapturing his blazing speed.
“People been trying to say I’m not fast no more,” Hall told reporters. “I’m like, ‘I just need some space.’”
