Jessica Pegula likely set herself up for a chance at redemption.
The No. 4-ranked American star breezed past Barbora Krejcikova, 6-3, 6-3 in the U.S. Open quarterfinals Tuesday afternoon at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Pegula will next face the winner of the Aryna Sabalenka-Marketa Vondrousova match later on Tuesday. The No. 1-ranked Sabalenka is heavily favored.
Sabalenka defeated Pegula in last year’s U.S. Open final, spoiling Pegula’s chance to win the first Grand Slam of her career. It was also the first time Pegula reached the final of a Grand Slam.
Now, Pegula is likely to get another crack at getting past Sabalenka.

Pegula is one of two American women, along with Amanda Anisimova, still alive in the tournament. No. 8-ranked Anisimova faces No. 2 Iga Swiatek in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.
Pegula, the daughter of Bills owner Terry, has largely dominated her way to the semifinals and is yet to drop a single set. Tuesday’s match lasted just 1:26 before Pegula dispatched Krejcikova.
