NextImg:Jeremy Renner chokes up in first interview since plow accident: ‘I’d do it again’

Jeremy Renner says he’d get run over by a snowplow “again” if it meant saving his nephew.

“I’d do it again,” he tells a shocked Diane Sawyer in his first sit-down interview since the freak accident. “Yeah, I’d do it again because it’s going right at my nephew.”

The interview, which will air in full on Thursday, April 6, has Renner reflect on the excruciating pain he felt when he believed he was “dying.”

“[I felt] all of [the pain],” he shares before brutal audio of his 9-1-1 call plays. “I was awake through every moment.”

Despite his injuries, which include shattered ribs, a broken mandible, broken leg and so much more, the “Avengers” star hopes one day to get back to performing his own stunts.

“I’d do it again,” he says of saving his nephew’s life.

The accident took place on New Year’s Day when he was trying to clear snow out of his Reno, Nevada, property.

“I chose to survive, it’s not going to kill me, no way,” he says of his injuries. “I’ve lost a lot of flesh and bone in this experience, but I’ve been refueled and refilled with love and titanium.”

Renner, 52, was run over by his own snow plow on New Year’s Day when he pushed his nephew out of the rolling machine’s way. He sustained “blunt chest trauma” that required him to be airlifted and to undergo emergency surgery.

The “Hurt Locker” star returned home from the hospital a couple of weeks later and started documenting his intense rehabilitation and upright exercises, which he began just two months after the accident.

“Whatever it takes,” he captioned a video of himself working out.

In another photo, Renner showed that he was also working on his “mental recovery” as well, posting a photo of “The Book of Awakening” by Mark Nepo.

“It’s a miracle, a straight-up miracle,” Renner’s co-star Evangeline Lilly said of his recovery. “He’s made of something really tough, that guy. You’ve always been able to see that in him. He is recovering incredibly, and I’m so grateful.”
