After fans eviscerated Jeopardy! contestant Brian Henegar for his resemblance to Adolf Hitler, the reigning champion left Twitter — only to return with a new look.
Henegar, who appeared on Monday night’s (April 3) episode of the hit quiz show, swept the competition, walking away with a whopping $23,201 in winnings.
However, his impressive victory wasn’t enough to stop viewers from commenting on his appearance, which consisted of a mustache and a side part in his slicked-down hair.
“I need someone in Brian’s life to tell him he kinda looks like hitler,” one wrote, while another added, “Dude on Jeopardy tonight looks like Hitler and either he was aiming for this look or nobody in his life loves him enough to tell him he fucking up.”
A third person asked, “Has no one ever told this guy on #Jeopardy that he looks like Hitler? He should change up his hair or stache. I can’t be the only one thinking it.”
After feeling the wrath of social media, Henegar took to his own Twitter account on Tuesday night (April 4) to announce his departure from the platform.
“Right now I’m feeling every emotion under the sun reliving my Jeopardy! appearance,” he said. “And I’m seeing what a bunch of Jerks on Twitter are doing because all they can focus on is my looks… So I’m going to be leaving Twitter for a while, see you soon.”
Although, his exit didn’t last too long as the contestant returned to Twitter the following day, where he announced he would be changing up his look.
“So I have two things to say right now, and then I’m not gonna say anything else about the matter for the sake of my own sanity,” he wrote. “For starters, even though I’ve spent about 10 years on it, I’m shaving off my mustache tonight…too much work to keep it tight.”
Henegar continued, “And second, to all of you jerkolas you thought comparing my appearance to one of the most evil dictators, who ever lived was the height of comedy, when I get my Jeopardy winnings, I will be making a donation to the Anti-Defamation League,” before adding, “That way some good will come from your hate.”
Despite saying he runs the risk of making himself look like his “evil twin from a parallel universe,” Henegar revealed later that same night that he opted to grow his mustache into a goatee instead of shaving it off completely.
Jeopardy! airs on weeknights at 7/6c on ABC.
