What started out as a sincere conversation about Judy Blume‘s impact quickly took a turn when Jenna Bush Hager began to tease her guest host and longtime friend, Savannah Guthrie.
The teasing began when Guthrie admitted, “I feel like half the things I learned about life and frankly, a little bit about the birds and the bees were from [Judy Blume].”
Bush Hager pushed Guthrie to say “sex” on the air, which Guthrie clearly appeared uncomfortable with.
“Sex. You can go ahead, can you say sex?” Bush Hager urged. She then told viewers, “She’s kind of repressed.”
Guthrie didn’t even try to argue with Bush Hager. “I am very repressed,” she agreed, before asking Bush Hager, “Do I have to? I think we know what we’re talking about.”
When she finally managed to get it out, Bush Hager and the Today crew clapped and cheered for Guthrie, who appeared a bit embarrassed.
But the show must go on. Bush Hager used the hilarious moment to segue into their next discussion topic, which was about an anchor in Albany, New York, who continued hosting the news broadcast while she was in active labor.

“Well, speaking of sex, an Albany, New York news anchor…,” Bush Hager began until Guthrie interrupted her.
“No! Is that your transition? Because she’s pregnant?” Guthrie asked.
“That’s how you get pregnant in case they didn’t explain everything to you,” Bush Hager fired back.
Guthrie and Bush Hager’s close bond clearly shines through when the pair are co-hosting Today together. Earlier this week, Guthrie even encouraged Bush Hager to show off the birthmark on her leg that once made her insecure.
Bush Hager did not hesitate to show it off during Tuesday’s broadcast. “This is actually me reclaiming that time!” she said.
Today with Jenna & Friends airs on weekdays at 10/9c on NBC.
