Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager finally reunited during the fourth hour of Today Thursday (Nov. 7) after NBC pre-empted the show Wednesday to continue their ongoing election coverage.

While Bush Hager had some time off from the show, Kotb was reporting tirelessly alongside Savannah Guthrie on the 2024 presidential election. And she appeared a bit out of sorts on Today With Hoda & Jenna when she fell into a giggling fit just by looking at Bush Hager.

“Stop, uh-oh,” Bush Hager said when Kotb could not hold back her laughter while presenting a segment during their morning chat. “I knew this was gonna happen. Hoda made it through 17 hours of election coverage, but I sit down here in a matching wool suit and she can’t keep her face straight.”

Bush Hager added, “She needs to let loose.”

Kotb couldn’t even hold it together to finish reading what was on the teleprompter. “Do it, you do it,” she told Bush Hager through her laughter.

The Today ladies offered a message of encouragement to viewers at the top of the show, acknowledging that some people may be feeling “jubilant” about Donald Trump’s victory, while others may feel “despondent.”

“And guess what? That’s what a democracy is,” Bush Hager said.

She told viewers, “For all of you that are joining us today, this is a place where we hope to bring smiles to those of you who are already smiling and those of you that are feeling disappointed.”

Kotb also urged viewers to go on a “listening tour” and connect with people across the aisle.

This has been an emotional election for many. Though Bush Hager did not share who she voted for in this presidential election, she told Kotb that she found herself becoming emotional when she went to cast her ballot.

She told Kotb, “I couldn’t help but almost tear up because there’s something so beautiful about having the rights that we do.”

She also urged their viewers to exercise their right to vote. “There’s such a beautiful part of our country which is, no matter who you vote for, that we get this right, that we get to use our voice,” she said.

Today with Hoda & Jenna airs on weekdays at 10/9c on NBC.
