NextImg:Jenna Bush Hager Says Her ‘Today’ Crew “Shamed” Her Because Her 4-Year-Old Was Still Sleeping In A Crib: “The Whole Community Shamed Me”

Jenna Bush Hager gave Today fans a much-needed update regarding her four-year-old son during Thursday’s (Jan. 18) episode.

Some may remember Bush Hager was loudly shamed on the show for admitting that her son still slept in a crib. During an October episode, she turned to the camera and asked if it was “normal,” to which her stage crew responded with a resounding “NO.”

“I wasn’t even asking you!” Bush Hager replied at the time, though she and Kotb were laughing. “I was asking [the viewers].”

During Thursday’s broadcast, Bush Hager revealed that her son finally graduated to a “big boy bed” just last week while she was “quarantined” in her room.

“It all happened without his mother’s help! And it leaves me to wonder if I’m too overbearing when it comes just to him,” she admitted to her co-host.

Hoda Kotb replied, “It’s funny because sometimes, when you’re out of the picture, you think no changes are going to happen without our urging, our cheering, our guidance.”

Bush Hager admitted that she felt “shamed” by the “whole community” after she admitted that her son was still sleeping in a crib.

“Well, y’all had shamed me, and really the whole community had shamed me for the fact that he was in a crib. You all shamed me a little,” she recalled. “So I said, ‘Okay Hal, I think it’s time, some friends have said it’s time to move!’ And he was not ready, he was scared.”

Kotb tried to show some support for her colleague. “You know what I love, he really did tell you when he was ready. What difference does it make if he’s in a crib or a bed? And when he’s 20 he’s not gonna remember he was in a [crib] until he was four-and-a-half.”

But Bush Hager wasn’t so sure. “Well, he’s gonna remember, because it’s going to be on the internet,” she reminded her co-host with a laugh.

Today with Jenna and Hoda airs on weekdays at 10/9c on NBC.
