Today host Jenna Bush Hager may have picked up gardening as her new hobby, but there’s one thing she admits she loves “so much”: vacuuming.

She and Hoda Kotb were discussing how much they enjoyed keeping their houses clean when Kotb said, “You can control that part of life. Like, the world’s chaotic outside but you step into your own home and all of a sudden, you can make it a sanctuary, no matter the space, no matter whatever.”

Hager replied to her co-host, “I mean now you see why I love to vacuum so much,” to which Kotb laughed and said, “Well, no I don’t.”

Bush Hager said she’s a fan of vacuuming because it helps you “feel good in your own space.”

She added, “Hal said to me last night, ‘Your favorite things are packing and vacuuming’ I was like, ‘Well, I don’t actually love packing for all you rats but somebody’s gotta do it. But I do love vacuuming.”

The conversation also reminded Bush Hager of her childhood as she recalled her mother always cleaned the kitchen before they went to bed. “It was a nice way to start the next day. And now, I have kind of turned into my mother,” she said.

Bush Hager has been open about the lengths she will go to keep her house clean and organized – even if that means getting rid of her kids’ participation trophies.

She admitted in 2023 that she doesn’t keep a single trophy her kids have received in the house. “Because everybody gets a trophy, they’ve won at least six. Even though they’re completely average, they’ve won all these trophies, and I throw them all out,” she said.

Though she confessed that she was feeling “tremendous guilt” over it, she recently said she got “busted” for throwing out yet another trophy!

“You know when I feel out of sorts, I just throw things away,” she told Kotb. “I got busted because there was a trophy, I didn’t know they wanted it. And there were a lot of trophies!”

She continued, “It was for a dance, a participation. It wasn’t like, ‘Best Dancer.’ They don’t do that anymore. It was like, ‘You danced! So you get a trophy!’”
