Jenna Bush Hager celebrated her 42nd birthday this weekend with her family, though their “really fun” lunch took a slight turn when her daughter cracked a “hilarious” joke at her expense. She dished to Hoda Kotb about the sick burn her 10-year-old made during Monday’s (Nov. 27) broadcast of Today With Hoda & Jenna as they recounted their long weekends.

“Jenna, not only did you celebrate Thanksgiving with your family, you also celebrated a birthday,” Kotb said at the start of the episode.

But Bush Hager tried to shift the subject away from her, replying, “So much celebration, so little time. Too much cake, too much pie, but we had a wonderful time. How about you? You had the whole family here.”

“Why did you gloss over yours? Why did you do that? That is not cool,” Kotb said.

She replied, “Because we already discussed! I had a birthday, it was really fun I got to have a really fun lunch with the kids.”

Bush Hager is the mother of three children, whom she shares with her husband of 15 years, Henry Hager: Mila, 10, Poppy, 7, and Hal, 3.

She continued, “I told you how Henry goes, ‘Let’s cheers Mom, she’s never looked better.’ And Mila goes, ‘Dad, why are you lying? She has looked better.’”

The joke still made Kotb and Bush Hager laugh. “My kids are hilarious and it was fun,” she said.

For Bush Hager’s birthday on Friday (Nov. 24), the Today co-hosts played a game of ‘Older or Younger,’ where she had to guess if she was older or younger than some important pop culture moments.

She fared fairly well during the game until she learned, much to her horror, that she was older than McDonald’s chicken nuggets. Though she was certain she was “definitely younger” than the fast food staple, they technically became available to the public in 1983.

“Wait, I am older than Chicken McNuggets?! I was feeling good about my age, but all of a sudden, I’m a little…,” she admitted.

In another round, she learned that motown music had only been around for approximately 25 years when she was born. “God, I’m old!” she said.

Let’s hope she thanked Kotb and her daughter for making this birthday such a memorable one.

Today with Jenna and Hoda airs on weekdays at 10/9c on NBC.
