Jenna Bush Hager had Hoda Kotb cracking up on Today when she recounted an argument she and her husband recently got into ahead of the upcoming election.

Bush Hager was sharing her unique take on Zoe Kravitz and Channing Tatum‘s recent breakup when she mentioned that the holiday season and the upcoming presidential election almost make this the “best day of the year” to break up with someone.

“This is uncuffing season,” she proclaimed to Kotb. “We got Halloween tomorrow… we got the election.”

And tensions certainly run high before a presidential election. She added, “I got mad at my own husband last night because he was planning to early vote without me.”

“I said, ‘We always vote together,'” she recounted. “He said, ‘I’m going tomorrow,’ I said, ‘How dare you? I have to work tomorrow. We go on Friday.'”

She made Kotb laugh as she shared that her husband simply responded with a meek, “… Yes ma’am.”

She later thanked Nobody Wants This creator Erin Foster for helping her and her husband have a “mature” discussion after he found a box of mementos from a past relationship, which happens to Kristen Bell‘s character on the Netflix series.

She had previously said on Today that the comedy series “helped” them navigate what could have been a very awkward conversation. “The truth is, this is the thing, without Kristen Bell and Adam Brody and all those people, he wouldn’t even have known what a box was,” she said.

She continued, “That show helped Henry and I have a mature [conversation] because he wrote, ‘I found your box and I get that you need these things,’ and I wrote back, ‘Lol.’”

She later admitted to Kotb that she may not have had such a “mature” reaction if she found out her husband kept a box like that. “We might have had been a very different conversation,” she joked.

Kotb was unsurprised by Bush Hager’s confession. “Oh, you would be pissed,” she said.

Today with Hoda & Jenna airs on weekdays at 10/9c on NBC.
