NextImg:Jenna Bush Hager Reveals She Called Her Brother In Law By The Wrong Name At Her Sister’s Wedding: “My Brain Wasn’t Firing On All Cylinders”

Jenna Bush Hager revealed the major mishap she had at her twin sister’s wedding during Monday’s (Dec. 4) episode of Today.

While she and Hoda Kotb discussed Meg Ryan‘s recent confession that she once called her date by the wrong name, Bush Hager revealed she had a similar story of her own to share.

“Oh gosh, I’ve never done that on a date…,” she said, before trailing off.

“However…,” Kotb prompted.

“However — and I’d like to apologize to my brother in law for this — at Barbara’s wedding, I wrote a really beautiful toast,” she began, before quickly adding, “I was pregnant with Hal; I’d like to put it out there my brain wasn’t firing on all cylinders.”

She continued, “I stood up, and his name is Craig, and I said, ‘Welcome to the family, Greg.'”

“I don’t even know what it was, I’m not sure where it came from. Because I know him very well!” she told Kotb. She explained that the mistake was especially confusing considering she had already given the toast once when their family had held a private wedding ceremony beforehand.

“Half of the people there were like, did she just call him the wrong name?” she said. “He forgave me, I think.”

Bush Hager added that there is a photo from the wedding that shows her and her sister wide-eyed after the mistake.

Her sister, Barbara Bush, recently joined them on the air for a few episodes to promote their new book, Love Comes First. Her appearance included some hilarious moments, including a rather cringey joke about their grandmother using hair removal cream and a tense debate about the boy they both liked in the seventh grade.

“We never had the same tastes,” Jenna said during the episode. “Except, in the seventh grade, we both liked the same person for a brief moment.”

But Barbara appeared to remember things differently: “Well, he liked me, and then you liked him,” she said, to which Jenna replied, “I don’t think he liked you first.”

Shots fired!

Today with Jenna and Hoda airs on weekdays at 10/9c on NBC.
