Jenna Bush Hager looked back on Savannah Guthrie‘s seemingly wild 50th birthday party, where she was not only “one of the last people standing” but also lost a diamond from her wedding ring.

“I had a bad wedding ring situation,” Bush Hager began explaining to her Today guest host Heather McMahan. “I’m not wearing one now because I broke my finger, but don’t worry, I’ve seen some of the comments. Henry and I are still very happily married.”

She continued, “But once, Savannah Guthrie had a 50th birthday. And sometimes for my best friend’s birthdays I feel like I really have to give it my all, I gave it my all, like one of the last people standing, and Henry was kind of grumpy. He went to bed a little earlier sort of like, ‘Aren’t you coming with me?’ And I’m like, ‘No, I’m not coming with you!'”

The Today host said she woke up the next morning to find one of the stones from her engagement ring was missing. “I was already on thin ice for my wild behavior so I looked down like, ‘Oh no, do I tell him this now or do I wait?'” she said.

Bush Hager did not mince her words when she confessed to her husband. “I went ahead and just say, ‘Honey, I know I lost a little bit of dignity last night, I also lost your grandmother’s sapphire,'” she recalled.

When McMahan asked how he reacted to the news, Bush Hager said he “was okay.”

“He’s a tolerant person. My mom calls him a saint, which is really just saying I’m difficult to be with,” she quipped. “And I never found it again.”

Bush Hager is never one to hide details from her marriage. She recently complained that her husband scheduled a colonoscopy just days before her due date.

“My husband got a colonoscopy like two days before,” she announced, before quickly adding, “Please don’t put this on the internet.”

The Today host continued, “And I was like, ‘Why are you scheduling this appointment for right — I could be going into labor, but here I am picking you up from the clinic.’”
