The time has finally come! Today hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager unveiled their first-ever Christmas single “A Carefree Christmas With Hoda & Jenna” during Wednesday’s (Nov. 29) episode.

Though the single is already available to stream on services like Apple Music and Spotify, Kotb and Bush Hager wanted to make sure you could listen to it right away.

“You’re in your house right now, right? And you probably have Alexa so I’m going to say something. Alexa, please play ‘A Carefree Christmas,'” Kotb said. She paused for a moment. “Is it working?”

Bush Hager added, “Tell us if it works! Or try this. Maybe you’re just scrolling on your phone – we hope not because we like your undivided attention – but let’s try this: Siri, please play ‘A Carefree Christmas.’ Did it work?”

The Today show hosts also premiered their music video and took us behind the scenes of making their first-ever Christmas single, which they made with the help of vocal coach and singer Cheryl Porter.

“Cheryl could teach that chair to sing,” Kotb said. “She sat with us and we matched her tone and we learned literally to go from non-singers to below-average singers.”

She continued, “Jenna and I have done so many things together. We have gone to cheese making school, the polar plunge, the two of us went sailing on the Hudson. What have we not done yet? Drop a single! So it’s time.”

Bush Hager agreed. They said they felt that it was the natural next step after having hosted the fourth hour of The Today Show together since 2019. “How much harder is singing than talking?” Bush Hager joked.

“You say why, we say why not,” she added.

Unfortunately, the ladies will not be performing their new single at the Rockefeller Tree lighting, which is slated to take place Wednesday (Nov. 29) evening.

The anticipation has been high. Kotb and Bush Hager have been teasing “A Carefree Christmas” for weeks now, even going so far as to compare their roll-out to Taylor Swift‘s “Anti-Hero” and vying for Mariah Carey‘s crown as the Queen of Christmas.

Today with Jenna and Hoda airs on weekdays at 10/9c on NBC.
