Jenna Bush Hager and Hoda Kotb addressed a question at the top of everyone’s mind during this morning’s (Sept. 11) episode of Today With Hoda & Jenna following this weekend’s news cycle: Could you handle marrying People‘s reigning Sexiest Man Alive?
After congratulating actor and 2022 SMA Chris Evans — who reportedly married actress Alba Baptista in a private ceremony in Massachusetts this weekend — the co-hosts discussed whether they could “handle” being married to someone like Evans.
“Could you handle marrying the Sexiest Man Alive?” Bush Hager asked her co-host.
“That’s actually a really good question. Would I like that, if the person I was with, if everyone was like, ‘Boy, you’re lucky wow,'” Kotb pondered, before replying, “I don’t know if I’d like that.”
Bush Hager agreed, telling her, “I don’t think I would either. I don’t think I’d like that because then I would be like, what about me? Aren’t they lucky?”
Though she later admitted, “But [Evans] is the type of Sexiest Man Alive I could’ve married.”
“Like he’s rugged, and he doesn’t seem so pretty,” she explained.
Kotb seemed like she completely understood. “He’s not so coifed,” she added in agreement.
Evans was named People‘s Sexiest Man Alive in 2022, during which he admitted that marriage was “absolutely something I want” though he maintained it would certainly be done in private. “Some things you want just for you, or just for my family and my friends,” he said.
Evans and Baptista allegedly married this weekend after dating for approximately two years. According to Page Six, the wedding was a star-studded ceremony that took place in the Boston area. Multiple Marvel stars were there to celebrate, including Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth and Jeremy Renner.
Baptista is best known for starring in the unceremoniously canceled Netflix series Warrior Nun, which garnered a small but devoted fanbase before it was canceled after two seasons.
The couple have been notoriously private about their relationship, a factor which Kotb and Bush Hager think played into their success.
“We haven’t seen much about them but maybe that’s why it’s all working,” Kotb speculated on today’s show. “Because we’re all out of it.”
“How nice that they had a wedding that none of us stalked on TMZ. How lucky for them,” Bush Hager added.
Today with Jenna and Hoda airs on weekdays at 10 a.m. ET on NBC.
