Jazz Chisholm Jr. insists he has a good relationship with umpires around the league — at least when he is not in the batter’s box.
But the way the ninth inning unfolded Tuesday night with the Yankees third baseman getting ejected for the second time this season — even though this one appeared to be for a lesser charge — Chisholm may have some more work to do in toeing the line between expressing his frustrations without it costing him the rest of a game.
“Jazz is an emotional guy. I think he understands and tries to rein that in some,” manager Aaron Boone said on Wednesday afternoon at Great American Ballpark. “That’s still a work in progress. I think he understands how much we’re all counting on him in that room to be able to stay in certain games.
