Jayson Boebert, the ex-husband of Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.), vowed “to stand by” his son Tyler after the teen was hit with 22 charges, including five felonies, in connection with a string of alleged thefts.
Jayson Boebert broke his silence Wednesday to profess his “unconditional love” for his son — a month after he was arrested for attacking Tyler in a drunken rage before grabbing a rifle, according to a police report.
“I know my son is a good-hearted child and still has his whole life ahead of him,” Jayson told the Daily Mail Wednesday, a day after the 18-year-old was arrested for a string of alleged vehicle break-ins and property thefts and held at Garfield County Jail.
“My love for my children is unconditional and I vow to stand by them unwaveringly through all of life’s challenges,” the father of four continued.
His statement came after the Jan. 9 alleged attack on his son, which followed the elder Boebert’s Jan. 6 arrest at a Colorado restaurant involving a confrontation with Lauren and Tyler.
Boebert was charged with third-degree assault, prohibited use of weapons, obstructing a peace officer, harassment, disorderly conduct and third-degree trespassing, prompting officials to grant an order of protection against Jayson, which prevents him from contacting the Republican lawmaker and their three other children, who are minors.
Tyler Boebert was not granted protection under the order — even though his father had recently dug his thumb into the teen’s mouth as if he was “going to pull his tooth out,” according to a police report — although Lauren had referenced the attack in her restraining order request.
The outspoken controversial lawmaker had accused her ex in January of making “multiple suicidal threats and threats to harm me over the past 14 months,” and alleged he had entered her Stilt home to remove her personal belongings and destroy them.
Jayson Boebert had claimed he had only entered the home to clean up and accused Lauren of using the restraining order to “justify” her move to a more GOP-friendly congressional district, where the firebrand is gunning for a third term in Congress.
“Ensuring that I am there for my children regardless of the circumstances is a value I hold dear as a parent,” the allegedly violent dad told the Daily Mail.
“I hope to continuously evolve and refine my parenting skills. I have made a commitment to provide the best possible support and guidance to my children,” he added.
“Even though I may feel like I have failed at times I will continue to keep improving.”
Boebert’s statement came as Lauren said she felt Tyler “should be held accountable” for his alleged crimes.
The teen is facing five felony charges, four for criminal possession of ID documents with multiple victims, and one conspiracy to commit charge.
He also faces misdemeanor charges of four first-degree criminal trespassing of an automobile, with intent to commit a crime, four charges of identity theft, possession with intent to use, two charges for contributing to the delinquency of a minor in the town of Rifle.
The teen had previously been ticketed in 2022 for “careless driving causing bodily injury,” after he flipped Jayson’s SUV into a creek and was ordered to attend a driver safety program.
His friend was seriously injured in the accident, and accused Rep. Boebert of trying to cover it up.
A year later the Republican announced that her then-17-year-old son had fathered a child out of wedlock with a 15-year-old girl.
