


In his official greeting to Yankees fans, The Martian appeared to pay tribute to his homeland.
As the Bleacher Creatures chanted his name in the top of the first inning of his home debut Tuesday, Jasson Dominguez appeared to confirm that he is not from this world.
Dominguez smiled, touched his index fingers together and lifted one finger to the sky while facing fans in right-center field — an apparent reference to “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial,” the 1982 movie about a friendly alien.
The 20-year-old, who debuted in Houston and smacked two home runs in three games, earned his nickname as a teenager in the Dominican Republic because his abilities clearly did not belong with the other teenagers he was playing with.
The Yankees landed him with a franchise-record $5.1 million signing bonus in 2019 and he has risen quickly.
One of his first acts in the majors apparently was phoning home.
