In this case, it might have been easier for things not to go according to Jason Kelce’s plan.
On a recent appearance on “New Heights,” Jason and Travis Kelce’s podcast, Jason’s wife Kylie joined the show and revealed hilarious behind-the-scenes details of her engagement to Jason.
As Jason and Kylie left her parents’ house one day, Jason tried to devise a way a discretely enter the house to ask for her parents’ permission before the proposal.
“I went into the house…and asked [her parents] for Kylie’s hand in marriage,” Jason said.
“I was trying to do this, because I wanted to get it done before training camp and be engaged. So there were some scheduling reasons,” he added. “I couldn’t figure out how to inconspicuously go into the house…I said, Ky, I’m sorry, I gotta go take a s—t right now.”
Kylie didn’t suspect anything, but she was keeping her eye on the clock.
“I was like ‘Great, go in, because we’re not turning back around,'” Kylie chimed in. “Because at this point, we were visiting my parents, we lived 30 minutes away from where they lived, and we had already gotten the dog in the car.”
Soon enough, Kylie realized something was up.
“He went inside, he was only in there for maybe two minutes, and I said, ‘Jason, go back in there, and go to the bathroom. I know you didn’t just go in there and take a s—t, it usually takes you 20 minutes, that was not long enough, and we are not turning around.’
“And then he said, ‘I know this isn’t the most romantic way to do this, but can you get out of the car?'”
“At least you did it, bud. Hats off,” Travis added after the story.

Jason, a center with the Eagles since 2011, has been a Pro Bowl selection six times with five All-Pro nods.
He battled his brother, Travis, an eight-time Pro Bowl tight end with four All-Pro selections, in Super Bowl LVII.
Travis and the Chiefs beat Jason and the Eagles, 38-35.
