The NFL is so thoughtful.
The league had a drug test notice waiting for Eagles center Jason Kelce on his 36th birthday after he helped lead the Eagles to a dramatic win over the Cowboys, a Philadelphia Inquirer photo revealed.
Kelce and the Eagles had just defeated their rival, 28-23, in a game that came down to the final play with Cowboys star receiver CeeDee Lamb being tackled near the goal line.
The Eagles center had another notable moment during the game when Fox’s cameras caught him screaming in the face of Cowboys linebacker Damone Clark.
“Just screaming in his face, what an animal,” NFL analyst Warren Sharp wrote on X.
The two had another run-in during the game when Clark swiped at Kelce’s helmet with the Eagles driving near the Dallas end zone.
It could be one of Kelce’s last games in the rivalry as he recently discussed the likelihood of retiring soon.
Kelce was recently asked about the other responsibilities he’s added off the field, most notably the “New Heights” podcast he hosts with his brother Travis — an endeavor they started last season as both Jason’s Eagles and Travis’ Chiefs advanced to the Super Bowl.
“We took on a lot last year, and it ended up working out really, really well for Travis and I at the end of the season, although we [the Eagles] did come up one game short,” Jason told the NFL Report last month.
“I think it is a lot, and I think the way we’ve justified it as a family is this [playing football] is going to be over pretty soon here. If it’s this year, which it very well could be, we want to make sure that we’re ready to go when football’s done.”
If this is Kelce’s last season, it could very well feature another Super Bowl run.
The win over Dallas gave Philadelphia (8-1) a 2 ½ game cushion in the NFC East and they also own the best record in football, with their only loss coming to the Jets.
