Jason Kelce is a man with a plan.
On Wednesday’s episode of his “New Heights” podcast he co-hosts with his brother Travis Kelce, the retired Eagles center said he wanted to bring back the iconic “Backyard Football” and “Backyard Baseball” games after Travis asked if he remembered the game.
“I don’t even know if I want to mention this cause I have secretly been looking into seeing if anybody holds the rights to ‘Backyard Football’ and ‘Backyard Baseball,’ cause I wanna buy it and get this thing going again,” Jason said. “It’s the best game ever. It was so electric. Can you imagine playing ‘Backyard Football’ right now on your phone? Cause you can do that whole thing on your phone, it wasn’t that complicated.”
“I loved it, man,” Travis chimed in.
“If anyone knows who has the rights to the ‘Backyard’ sports franchise please hit us up,” the podcast wrote on its X account.
The Backyard Sports series started in 1997 with the release of “Backyard Baseball” and featured kid-sized versions of stars across multiple sports.
The original “Backyard Football” featured eight players: quarterbacks Drew Bledsoe, Randall Cunningham, John Elway, Brett Favre, Dan Marino, and Steve Young; running back Barry Sanders; and wide receiver Jerry Rice.
In addition to baseball and football games, the series also included hockey, soccer, basketball and skateboarding.
The series was originally owned by Humongous Entertainment but the rights eventually went to Atari.
In 2013, The Evergreen Group bought the rights to the game.
According to Justia, a legal information website, Day 6 Sports Group owns the trademarks for the Backyard Sports franchise.
The most recent games released by the company were Backyard Sports: Baseball 2015 and Basketball 2015, which were both released for iOS and Android.

The 2015 edition of Backyard Baseball featured 18 professional players, including Giancarlo Stanton, Miguel Cabrera, Mike Trout, and Clayton Kershaw.
The basketball edition starred LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and Kobe Bryant.
