SIGN UP NOWThere is a chance quarterback Justin Fields finally develops into a bona fide passer, first-time offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand is unmasked as a play-calling savant and a three-headed rushing attack wears down defenses.
But linebacker Jamien Sherwood doesn’t want to leave the fate of the Jets to chance, so he is demanding that the defense carry the torch in head coach Aaron Glenn’s first season.
“We feel like we run the show, at the end of the day,” he said. “Our offense is great, and I’m hopeful for them this season. Praying for them to all stay healthy and do amazing things.
“But the man within you, you have to be the one that wants to run the show, you have to be the one that sets the table. Being one of the leaders, I command for the defense to go out there every day and put fire in our offense … so they are already juiced up.”
