Observations from Monday’s Giants camp:

Jalin Hyatt’s strong training camp continued, with the rookie hauling in two impressive contested catches down both sidelines during team drills, one of which went for a touchdown. The Giants drafted the speedy Hyatt in the third round to help make the offense more explosive, which has been felt early on.

As the second unit replaced the starters in the beginning of team drills, offensive coordinator Mike Kafka stopped the offense as they were lining up and barked at them, seemingly spotting a mistake in the formation.

Darren Waller participated in individual drills but not team drills, likely a maintenance or rest day for the veteran tight end. That meant more work for Daniel Bellinger, who impressed with two touchdown receptions during the team drills.

Sterling Shepard, who practiced for the first time on Sunday, did not practice Monday as part of the Giants’ rehab plan for him. Rakeem Nunez-Roches, who was placed in concussion protocol after a car accident, did some activity on the field and was to be looked at again after practice. Jihad Ward did not practice for the second straight day with an undisclosed ailment, though Brian Daboll said it was not serious.
