Jalen Brunson and fellow New York Knicks star Josh Hart are keeping it real – off the court.
The New York Knicks superstars, Villanova alums and former roommates, have electrified the Big Apple, leading the Knickerbockers to the Eastern Conference Finals in June, the first time since 2000, and now they’re game to talk reality TV.
In their offseason podcast “Roommates Show,” Brunson and Hart channel their inner “Real Housewives” and get into a heated discussion on reality TV show “Love Island.”
“Josh’s ‘Real Housewives’ tagline would be, ‘I’m just vibing,’ that would be his tagline,” Brunson told The Post of the shooting guard whom he played college basketball with for two seasons during the 2016 NCAA national championship at Villanova.
The kicker? Hart doesn’t even watch reality TV, he told The Post — only making an exception for “Love Island,” a hot topic of discussion in their latest podcast episode.
In the last episode of their podcast, Hart, Brunson and their college roommate and co-host Matt Hillman unpacked their affinity for the reality competition (Spoiler alert: Hart is not a super fan).
“I’m kinda watching it and I’m also on my phone,” he said on the last podcast episode Thursday, confessing “I’m not really a fan of anyone in particular. I rocked with Taylor [Chmelka]. Then America kicked him off because there was haters.”
“I don’t watch reality shows,” Hart admitted to The Post (Brunson called him out as a “weirdo” for it).
Brunson, meanwhile, who grew up in New Brunswick, New Jersey, confessed: “The Jersey Shore,” is still the GOAT [greatest of all time] in his book.
“My favorite reality show of all time, possibly one of my favorite shows,’” Burnson revealed
“I could watch that on repeat.”
The point guard, listens to Justin Bieber as his pre-game routine, a tradition that started when he played ball back at Villanova, which he’s said leads him to win. He also said he can’t stop listening to a particular song off of Bieber’s new album, “Swag.”
“The first song right now is probably my favorite. No. 1 is ‘All I can Take’,” Brunson told The Post.
Tickets go on sale Friday for a live taping of the “Roommates Show,” in Central Park on September, 6 at Rumsey Playfield. The show will feature two-time Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning, comedy legend Ben Stiller, and a musical performance by Ferg at the block party that mixes hoops and music.
Thousands of Knicks fans are expected to gather, harkening back the energy that powered the city back in March during playoffs.
“Everything about the season was fantastic, obviously ending short was the only downfall of it. The love we got, everything that had to do with the season, the fans, was so appreciated. My favorite part of the whole thing was the fan interaction, but in Boston the streets were flooded. It was a really cool sight to see. When we’re playing well the energy is electric,” Brunson said.
Dream podcast guests? They have big players in mind.
“Someone like Denzel [Washington] would be the dream guest,” Hart told The Post.
“The Roommates” podcast, they said, is a chance for them to call the shots on topics they want to be unfiltered about.
“There’s so many narratives that take place in the media, this is one way we can control our narrative about the topics we want to talk about,” Brunson told The Post.
“Players want to control their narrative and speak freely. This is one way for us to open.”
Still, Hart says not everything is an open book.
“There’s definitely stuff that is off limits – normally we say things that come to mind and have fun with it. Somehow 75% of the things I say get edited out unfortunately. They try to mute me a little bit,” Hart joked.
Brunson and Hart helped pick the number one over FaceTime, and a day later New York beat the Pacers, ending Indiana’s series lead to 2-1 games.
“It’s an amazing feeling. It’s really cool to be involved in that,” Brunson said.
“It was cool, at the same time it was weird. It’s a blessing to have that kind of love around the city.”
