After describing his Game 1 performance as “horrific,” Jalen Brunson has joined Knicks teammate Julius Randle on the injury report.
The team’s two leading scorers both officially have been listed as questionable for Game 2 of the Eastern Conference semifinals Tuesday against the Heat.
Brunson is dealing with a sore right ankle, the team announced, after Randle missed the series opener with a sprained left ankle suffered in Game 5 of the first round against the Cavaliers.
Brunson missed time in early March with a bruised left foot, missing five of six games for the Knicks between March 5 until March 18 — when he returned for their victory against the Nuggets.
But later that month, Brunson suffered a sprained right hand in a March 22 loss to the Heat, and he didn’t play in the Knicks’ next two games before returning a week later.
Brunson, who sat out 10 of the final 14 games overall with the foot and hand injuries, was 0-for-7 from 3-point range and committed five turnovers in the Knicks’ series-opening loss to Miami on Sunday at the Garden.
Randle also missed the final five games of the regular season after initially suffering the same injury on March 29 against the Heat.
Heat star Jimmy Butler’s status for Game 2 also is in question after he also suffered an ankle injury in Sunday’s fourth quarter.
