It was clear that the Jaguars heard the comments Steelers wide receiver George Pickens made about their defense going into Sunday’s game.

Pickens put his foot in his mouth describing the Jags’ defense as a “hope defense” in which they just hope guys can keep up in coverage.

Naturally, on Sunday, the Jaguars held the Steelers to just under 270 yards of total offense and picked up a 20-10 win.

And Pickens had just one reception the entire game for 22 yards.

It was the Steelers only touchdown of the game.

Afterward, the Jaguars had some fun with the comments made by Pickens, with safety Rayshawn Jenkins getting a cleaver dig in at the Steelers.

“We’d have hoped they would have put up a better fight than that,” Jenkins told reporters, according to the Florida Times-Union’s Demetrius Harvey.

The Jaguars’ social media team also got in on the fun after the win.

The team posted to X a video trolling Pickens and captioned it “Hope is a dangerous thing.”

Jenkins has been having some fun lately trolling his opponents after a victory.

Following the win over New Orleans in Week 7, the safety took a shot at Derek Carr.

“We know that’s Derek Carr’s game,” Jenkins said, per USA Today. “He’s gonna checkdown, checkdown, checkdown. We just have to win the game down the field, and that was the mindset of the DBs.

“We’ll let him have the check-downs. We’ll come up, rally, tackle that, and get rid of the shot plays.”

The win moved the Jaguars to 6-2 on the season and they’ve now won five straight games.

Jacksonville has a bye week before returning to the field in Week 10 against the 49ers.
